NOVA-Controller

The NOVA-Controller (NC6, NC3…) is a bridge from USB to CAN. In addition it adds two power lines to the CAN-Bus. First a 5 VDC line with a maximum of one ampere for each port. Second a 42 VDC line with a maximum of 100 mA for each port. Every NOVA-Controller has its unique Controller ID (EEID), with is stored in an internal EEPROM.

The NC6 is a NOVA-Controller with six independent ports. It has an uplink port to connect to additional NOVA-Controllers. If there is no extra NOVA-Controller connected, the bus termination should be switched on. With two switches the RJ45 status LEDs can be switched on or off. The wire should have a maximum length of 1.5 m and a diameter of at least 0.4 mm (AWG26). The NC6 needs an undisturbed air flow for cooling and has a reversible overheating protection and a protection against short circuit. The NOVA-Bus is a composition of a three wire CAN-Bus with 1Mbit and additional power lines. The stub lines should be as short as possible to prevent signal reflections, the uses of bus terminations are recommended. The AC power adapter has two fuses. The case has an IP30 Code.
